The Gazebo Effect

The Gazebo Effect (as first defined by Albert Gully in 1946).
Dr Gully was Chief Medical Officer at Cranswick Hall Hospital in Dorset. The 18th Century Hall had been requisitioned by the Home Office for the convalescence of soldiers suffering from traumatic injuries sustained in the Second World War.
The idea of music as a healing influence which can affect health and mood goes back to the writings of Aristotle and Plato.
Dr Gully recruited amateur and professional musicians to come and play for the patients. Following these visits such were the improvements in their physical and emotional responses that the musicians were hired on a regular basis.
As the patients were taken out and entertained from the Gazebo in the hospital grounds, the term the ‘Gazebo Effect’ was coined by the staff who observed the feel good factor displayed following these visits.
More recently neurological studies into the phenomenon have conclusively shown significant changes in cerebral blood flow and an acceleration in production of serotonin in patients responding to the Gazebo Effect.
And so we reach this point in time.
We invite you to take part in our little experiment.
Test the theory for yourselves.
In these times of gloom and recession, darkness and depression, float away with us in this small bubble of sunshine.
Come in and enjoy the Gazebo Effect……………..

Raining Blue
Too scared to take a chance
To tell you how I felt
So I drove away
You wanted me to stay
What did I have to lose
We’re only passing through
But I drove away
Now it’s raining blue
All my life of searching
Just to get to you
But I blew it all
Now it’s raining blue
The moment now is lost
You offered me your bed
But I drove away
Chose raining blue instead
All my life of searching
Just to get to you
But I blew it all
Now it’s raining blue
Now I’m driving still
It’s nearly half past two
Tears and broken dreams
And it’s raining blue

Man Alone

Man Alone
My only companions
To help me
through the long nights
Are the memories,
The ghosts of you and me…
that haunt my room
and my head.
Three o clock,
another cigarette
And I can’t get over you,
Why can’t I let
A sweet woman of the city
Help me to forget?
The neon lights shine in,
I am in blackness
And they encroach,
Unwanted trespassers
Into my dark domain
Lighting up my face…
And my heart
Three ‘o’ clock
another cigarette
And I can’t get over you,
Why can’t I let
A sweet woman of the city
Help me to forget?

The Pattern
I believe in The Pattern
The Pattern is infinite and absolute and embraces everything that there is
You can make no demands of The Pattern, you can make no requests
Occasionally you can tap into The Pattern
This accounts for telepathy,déjà vu, extra sensory perception
However, this cannot be done willfully or be forced
The more you believe in The Pattern, the more you will experience The Pattern
